Bounty updates, status marks and dropping a claim

2 min read · Updated 2026-10-19

While you work a bounty, the operator who submitted the property watches a timeline of what is happening. You feed it two ways from your card under My bounties: Add update for what you did (owner contacted, waiting on a reply, and so on), and the one-tap marks Approved, Rejected and In progress for where it stands. If you can't finish, Drop this claim hands it back.

Add an update

  1. Open Opportunities → Operator submissions → My bounties.
  2. On the property's card, press Add update.
  3. Under What happened, pick one:
    • Owner contacted
    • Awaiting owner reply
    • Owner responded
    • Negotiating terms
    • Approved in writing
    • No path here
  4. Optionally choose How you reached them: Email, Call or Text.
  5. Optionally add a note under Anything worth adding — for example "Left a voicemail, following up Thursday."
  6. Press Post update.

The operator reads your note exactly as you write it, so keep it factual. Your name is never shown — updates read as coming from the Zi-Find network.

Mark the status in one tap

Under the card are three chips:

  • Approved — marks the property approved in writing. The operator is notified, and their owner-contact card for the property unlocks.
  • Rejected — marks it as no path here. The property stays listed; nothing is removed.
  • In progress — clears the mark and puts it back in progress.

Pressing the chip that is already selected does nothing, and marking keeps your claim alive. Only mark Approved when you hold the owner's written approval — see What counts as written sublease approval.

Which updates notify the operator

Most updates just appear on the operator's timeline. Owner responded and Approved in writing also send the operator a notification, at most once a day per property.

Drop a claim

If you can't finish a property, let someone else try.

  1. On the card, press Drop this claim.
  2. Read the confirmation and press Drop it (or Keep working it to cancel).

The property goes back in front of the network so another finder can pick it up. The operator isn't notified. Dropping doesn't cost or refund anything, and you can claim it again later if it is still open.

Good to know

  • Updates can't be edited or deleted. If you post something wrong, post a correct update after it.
  • You can keep posting updates after you have secured a property — you are the one doing the owner outreach.
  • If your claim has expired or someone else secured the property, the app says so instead of saving the update.

Does posting an update extend my claim?

Logging progress on the deal page extends an operator-funded claim once by 24 hours. Status marks also keep a claim alive.
