How to submit a property (Zillow link or address) for a sublease approval search

3 min read · Updated 2026-10-19

Found a rental you like on Zillow, or an address you drove past? Submit it on Zi-Find and our network of finders and realtors works the owner toward a written sublease approval for you. Each property you send is one property search from your monthly allowance, and there is no extra fee on top of your plan.

How to submit

  1. Click Submissions in the sidebar (or Submit on your phone), then the Submit a property tab.
  2. Check the Available this month box at the top. It shows how many searches you have left and when your allowance resets.
  3. Pick how you want to submit:
    • Zillow URL: paste a Zillow listing link. Click Add another link for more, up to five at a time.
    • Bulk URLs: paste several Zillow links, one per line. Any line that is not a valid Zillow link is flagged so you can fix it.
    • Address only: no Zillow link? Type any address, including off-market properties. Add anything we should know in Anything we should know?, such as the owner being open to a 6-month mid-term lease.
  4. Optional but recommended: add your mobile number and tick Text me confirmations so we can text you the moment a property is confirmed. Reply STOP to opt out at any time.
  5. Click the Submit button.

You land on a confirmation showing which properties were accepted. Anything that could not be accepted is listed with the reason, and the search for it is given back to your allowance.

What happens next

Your submission goes to the Zi-Find finder network. A finder identifies the owner, reaches out, and works toward a written approval. Every step shows up on the property's page, so you can watch it move instead of wondering. See Tracking a submission.

How many searches do you get?

Your plan sets your monthly allowance, and the Submissions page always shows the exact number you have left.

  • Elite Host includes 130 property searches a month, and the finder network works Elite searches first.
  • Pro Host includes a monthly allowance of searches of your own, shown on your Submissions page.
  • Accounts without a paid plan get a small allowance to try it.

When you run out, the page says so and offers Elite Host if you need more this month. Your allowance resets on the date shown.

Before you submit: a quick checklist

  • Confirm the property fits your criteria (bedrooms, rent range, market).
  • Make sure the Zillow listing is still active.
  • Only send properties you are serious about. Searches are limited.
  • Not sure about an address? Elite Host members can run a go/no-go check first. See Checking an address.

Good to know

  • One property equals one search, whether it comes from a link or an address.
  • A written approval is the owner's permission to sublease. It does not replace checking your city's short-term rental rules and your HOA.
  • Zi-Find takes no cut of your lease or your rent. Your subscription is the only thing you pay us.

Can I send the same property twice?

There is no need to. If you already sent an address, it is already being worked. The go/no-go check flags addresses you have already submitted.
