How to build your students' onboarding flow

Your onboarding flow is the guided walkthrough your students see the first time they sign in. You choose the steps, write the welcome in your own voice, and decide whether students see your brand alongside Zi-Find or your brand alone.

Open the editor

Go to Settings in the partner portal and choose the Onboarding flow tab.

Build the steps

Add steps in the order you want students to see them. The step types are:

• Message — a welcome or note screen.
• Name & email — collect the student's name and email.
• Choose your coach — the student picks from your team.
• How approval works — explain the process.
• Set criteria — the student sets their markets and rent range.
• Submit first property — the student pastes a Zillow URL.

For each step you can edit the title and the text the student reads, and add your own fields. Field types are Short text, Paragraph, Email, Phone, Number and Link / URL. Use the arrows to move a step up or down, or delete it.

Personalize the welcome

Under Personalize the welcome, fill in:

1. Welcome headline — for example, "Welcome — let's get your first property approved."
2. Welcome message — a short note on the first onboarding screen.
3. A note from you — shown as a personal intro, in your own voice.

Choose your branding

Under Onboarding branding, pick one:

• Co-branded — students see a "Referred by" badge with your name alongside Zi-Find.
• White-label — students see only your brand during onboarding, with no Zi-Find.

Save it

Click Save flow. The confirmation "Saved — students see this on their next first-login" means any student who has not yet been through onboarding will get the new version.

Share it anywhere

Below the editor, Share this onboarding gives you two things to copy:

• A live link students can open without logging in. Drop it in your community, an email or your docs.
• An embed code to place the same walkthrough on your own website.

If the link shows "This onboarding link isn't available", check that you have saved a flow first.

Good to know

• Students who finish onboarding count toward your automatic invoices. See Partner invoicing.
• Changes apply to future first logins. Students who have already finished onboarding are not sent through it again.
• If your team is empty, the Choose your coach step has no one to list. Add teammates under Settings, then Team.
